My name is Maryam, and I study Media in HCT. I chose media because I feel it is becoming more and more important in trying to be competitive in the global world. For example, if you want to market yourself the best way to do this is through the latest media tools. These can really help in gaining an advantage over other businesses or people who you need to compete with.
The city I live in, like most other cities nowadays, is enormous and it continues to grow at a fast pace. While this can cause problems, I like living in this environment as I enjoy the ‘buzz’ you get from the place. There is a real energy about the place. Although, I have to say, generally speaking I usually stay in the same area, fortunately, close to work. My best friend, who also works with me, has to travel for two hours just to get to work in the morning. I feel sorry for her because she lives on the outskirts of the city. It doesn’t sound very safe and I think she worries about her family’s safety. Anyway, I’m just happy I live in a nice place and don’t have to worry about that type of stuff. At the moment we are very busy at work because we are changing our IT systems at work. Because of the recent global environment we have had to protect ourselves more from outside cyber-attacks. This should be better, even though it will mean we cannot communicate as freely as before.
